การท่องเที่ยวฮ่องกง (Hong Kong Tourism Board: HKTB) ดึงศิลปินหลากหลายสัญชาติกว่า 18 คน ทั่วทั้งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้มาร่วมสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปะที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากเอกลัษณ์อันยาวนานของฮ่องกง ใน กิจกรรม “Arts in HK with S.E.A artists” ซึ่งเป็นกิจกรรมเสริมภายใต้แคมเปญใหญ่ตลอดปีอย่าง “Arts in Hong Kong” ที่มุ่งนำเสนอฮ่องกงสู่สายตาของผู้ชม มอบประสบกาณ์อันหลากหลายด้านศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมอย่างต่อเนื่อง พร้อมสร้างชื่อเสียงของฮ่องกงในฐานะศูนย์กลางการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมนานาชาติ
แคมเปญ “Arts in HK with S.E.A artists” ได้ร่วมมือกับเหล่าศิลปินมากความสามารถจากประเทศไทย สิงคโปร์ มาเลเซีย อินโดนีเซีย เวียดนาม และฟิลิปปินส์ โดยคอลเลกชันผลงานศิลปะครั้งนี้ครอบคลุมไปทั่วทุกแขนงงานศิลป์ ตั้งแต่ภาพสีน้ำ ไปจนถึงงานดิจิทัลอาร์ต งานปั้น งานปักผ้า ศิลปะจากทราย และอื่นๆ อีกมากมาย
“ในฐานะศูนย์กลางด้านศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม ฮ่องกงมีความตื่นเต้นที่จะได้ร่วมงาน และเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการฟูมฟักและพัฒนาศิลปินท้องถิ่นรุ่นใหม่ๆ ทั่วภูมิภาคนี้ รวมถึงมอบเวทีในการแสดงความสามารถสู่สายตาชาวโลก เราหวังที่จะปลุกปั้นและสนับสนุนกลุ่มศิลปินท้องถิ่นในภูมิภาคนี้ ด้วยการเป็นกระบอกเสียงให้ความสามารถพวกเขาผ่านแคมเปญนี้” เรย์มอนด์ ชาน ผู้อำนวยการการท่องเที่ยวฮ่องกงประจำภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ กล่าว
ศิลปะสะท้อนร่องรอยแห่งอดีตและปัจจุบัน เมื่อพิจารณาความหมายเชิงสัญลักษณ์ในงานศิลปะ เราสามารถเรียนรู้ ย้อนเวลา และสัมผัสวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างจากช่วงเวลาของเราได้ ผลงานการสร้างสรรค์ของศิลปินชาวเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ทั้ง 18 คน ได้สำรวจแง่มุมที่แตกต่างของ ‘ฮ่องกง’ ทั้งเก่าและใหม่ บางคนหยิบยกงานฝีมือแบบดั้งเดิม อย่าง การแกะสลักไพ่นกกระจอก การปักรองเท้า มาแสดงผ่านศิลปะ ในขณะที่อีกส่วนหนึ่งมองไปถึงอนาคต ผ่านสถานที่อย่าง พิพิธภัณฑ์สมัยใหม่ M+ และเขตวัฒนธรรมเกาลูนตะวันตก

หนึ่งในศิลปินที่ได้รับเชิญมาร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของแคมเปญนี้คือ คุณเบล เศรษฐพร ก่อวาณิชกุล หรือรู้จักกันดีในชื่อของ “Painterbell” ศิลปินดิจิทัลอาร์ตมากความสามารถจากเมืองไทย ซึ่งเป็นที่รู้จักดีจากสติกเกอร์ไลน์ “John and Lulu” ที่ได้รับความนิยมอย่างกว้างขวาง รวมถึงยังเคยฝากผลงานไว้กับแบรนด์ไทยและเทศหลากหลายแบรนด์อีกด้วย
“คาแรคเตอร์ John Lulu and Friends เป็นตัวแทนของความสุขและความสดใส ซึ่งเป็นความรู้สึกที่ผมสัมผัสได้จากการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมทัวร์เสมือนจริง ณ ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเกาลูนตะวันตกครับ แรงบันดาลใจของผม คือการได้พาพวกเขาไปเที่ยวที่ย่านเกาลูนตะวันตก เพื่อไปลองสัมผัสวัฒนธรรมทั้งแบบดั้งเดิมและแบบสมัยใหม่ที่ย่านแห่งนี้ได้มอบให้ผู้ที่มาเยือนครับ” Painterbell กล่าว

“งานของผมพาผู้คนออกเดินทางไปยังพื้นที่แห่งศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมในเกาลูนตะวันตกที่ซึ่งผลงานศิลปะแขนงเก่าและใหม่ต่างนำเสนอประวัติศาสตร์ศิลป์ของฮ่องกงได้อย่างกลมกลืน อีกหนึ่งแรงบันดาลใจของผมคืออาหารกวางตุ้งแบบดั้งเดิม เทศกาล และสถานที่ท่องเที่ยว ที่ทำให้เราค่อยๆ ตกหลุมรักเมืองแห่งนี้” Chong Fei Giap ศิลปินชาวมาเลเซียกล่าว

“แรงบันดาลใจในการวาดรูปของฉันมาจากความทรงจำวัยเด็กเช่น การดูซีรีส์ “Return of the Condor Heroes” ที่แสดงโดย Andy Lau และ Idy Chan ฉันชื่นชอบผลงานภาพยนตร์หลายเรื่องของ Andy Lau ซึ่งทำให้ฉันได้ซึมซับวัฒนธรรม วิถีชีวิต และอาหารอันโด่งดังของฮ่องกงมาด้วย นอกจากนั้นซีรีส์ของฮ่องกงยังนำเสนอบรรยากาศอันโดดเด่นและเส้นขอบฟ้าของฮ่องกงอีกด้วย จากความทรงจำสมัยเก่าที่คิดถึงนั้น ฉันอยากจะเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมของฮ่องกงมากขึ้น ซึ่งตอนนี้ฉันพร้อมมากที่จะเรียนรู้สิ่งใหม่ๆ เกี่ยวกับฮ่องกงค่ะ” Vina Candrawati ศิลปินวาดทรายชาวอินโดนีเซียกล่าว

Mela Gonzales ศิลปินโครเชต์จากฟิลิปปินส์ซึ่งถือเป็นครั้งแรกเธอที่ได้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโปรเจ็กต์ขนาดใหญ่เช่นนี้ กล่าวว่า “ถือว่าเป็นระยะเวลานานแล้วหลังจากที่ฉันได้ไปฮ่องกงครั้งล่าสุด อดใจรอที่จะไปเที่ยวอีกครั้งไม่ไหวแล้วค่ะ ฉันรู้สึกปลื้มใจเป็นอย่างมากที่ได้เห็นศิลปินในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้มารวมตัวกัน เพื่อหยิบยกความสามารถในการนำเสนองานศิลปะแขนงต่างๆ เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองให้แก่ฮ่องกง หวังว่าวันหนึ่งเราจะได้รวมตัวกันในฮ่องกงเพื่อชมเส้นขอบฟ้าอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์นี้ด้วยตนเองอีกครั้งหนึ่งค่ะ”

Hong Kong Tourism Board assembles 18 Southeast Asian artists to celebrate Hong Kong through Art
Hong Kong Tourism Board brought together 18 diverse artists across Southeast Asia (S.E.A) to create art pieces inspired by perennial icons of Hong Kong. This initiative, “Arts in HK with S.E.A artists” is an extension of the year-long “Arts in Hong Kong” by generating awareness of the city’s always-on, diverse experience of arts and culture, and establish Hong Kong as a centre for international arts and cultural exchange.
“Arts in HK with S.E.A artists” campaign will feature artistic talents from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. The collection of artwork spans across a spectrum of genres from painting to digital illustration, pottery, embroidery, sand art and more.
“As an international arts and culture hub, Hong Kong is excited to engage, nurture and develop the next generation of local artists across the region, while giving them a platform to showcase their talents to the world. By amplifying the potential of artists through this initiative, we hope to positively shape and empower artists within the local arts community in the region.” Said Raymond Chan, Regional Director of Southeast Asia at Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Art holds clues to life in the past and present. By looking at a work of art’s symbolism, we can learn, rewind time and experience a culture that is different to our time. The creations by the 18 Southeast Asian artists explore different facets of old and new Hong Kong – some celebrate traditional crafts such as mahjong carving and slipper embroidery while others look towards the future with the modern M+ museum and the West Kowloon Cultural District.

One of the artists invited to be part of this project is Seatapron Korwanichakul (Bell) also known as Painterbell, a talented digital illustrator from Thailand. Painterbell is best known for his massively successful Line stickers, “John and Lulu” and has collaborated with many multinational brands.
“My characters – John, Lulu and friends represent joy and brightness which was how I felt when on a virtual tour to West Kowloon Cultural Centre. My inspiration was to send them to West Kowloon so they could experience the traditional culture and modern offerings the neighbourhood has to offer.” Said Painterbell.

“My artwork takes people on a journey through the new arts and cultural district of West Kowloon where traditional and modern artforms work harmoniously to showcase Hong Kong artistic history. Other inspirations include classic Cantonese cuisine, festivals and attractions that we all have come to love about the city.” Chong Fei Giap, an illustrator from Malaysia.

“The inspiration for my painting comes from childhood memories such as watching the “Return of the Condor Heroes” series played by Andy Lau and Idy Chan. I enjoyed many Andy Lau films and through them, I learned about Hong Kong’s culture, lifestyle and popular cuisine. Not only that, Hong Kong’s TV series have also shown me the extraordinary scenes and skyline of Hong Kong. From those nostalgic memories, I want to know more about the art and culture in Hong Kong and am ready to discover everything new in Hong Kong,” said Vina Candrawati, a sand artist from Indonesia.
Embroidery bodice inspired by Philippines Artist, Mela Gonzales
Mela Gonzales, an embroidery artist from the Philippines has never been part of a project of such scale. “It’s been a long time since I was last in Hong Kong, but I can’t wait to visit again. It is heart-warming to see so many Southeast Asian artists coming together, bringing expertise from different artistic expressions to celebrate Hong Kong. I hope one day we can all gather in Hong Kong to see its iconic skyline in person once again.”
